So, keen to ride bikes with your kids.
Awesome!
Riding bikes is a great way to get kids into the great outdoors.
Here are Off Camber’s recommendations for places to get your kids out on bikes on the Atherton Tablelands
Jack May Park, Mary Street, Malanda
The Malanda Pump Track is the region’s newest cycling facility on the Atherton Tablelands.
This bitumen pump track twists and turns in a circuit.
The rolling humps are great for new riders and can be used as jumps as their skills improve.
Large shady trees with tables are near the track.
Next to the skills park is also one of the newest children’s nature playground on the Atherton Tablelands.
Both facilities are well worth the visit.
Vernon Street, Atherton
Kids enjoy the variety of berms, small jumps, and wooden skill features at this skill park.
There is plenty of shade and an undercover area for a picnic.
Beyond the skills park is a trail system that meanders through forest along Prior Creek, which is great of the bigger kids.
For little kids, I recommend staying on the top section of the skills park.
– Platypus Park to Hasties Swamp (8 km return)-
Atherton Herberton Road, Atherton
The rail trail is relatively flat, with shady areas running parallel to the railway line.
The railway line runs from Atherton to Herberton and is not frequented often by trains; however, you may be fortunate enough to see the maintenance railway vehicle or a heritage train on a special occasion.
Continue left on Hastie Road and right onto Koci road to check out the Bird Hide at Hasties Swamp.

Rifle Range Road, Atherton
Let’s hit the trails!
This well-signed mountain bike park has plenty of trails to discover with 55kms of scenic trails.
Start with the ‘green’ trail systems through forests, past waterholes, and fun mini descents.
There are no toilet facilities or water available – so stop in at Platypus Park on your way if needed.
Davies Creek Road, Mareeba
There are lots of trail options depending on the rider’s experience and fitness.
Check out the map at the trailhead; shorter ‘green’ trails are perfect for young and new riders.
Toilet facilities are 150m beyond the trailhead.
No water available. There is some mobile phone reception on some of the higher trail points in the park.
Only 45 minutes from Cairns, the Davies Creek Mountain Bike Park is ‘just up the hill’ if taking the Kuranda Range on the Kennedy Highway.
